Elvis
This is Elvis. Pink, yes, pompadour yes, hot gold background. Very Viva Las Vegas. He is the last in this particular Works On Paper series for my upcoming show as it is now time to delve into administrative tasks and designing promotional material. Cards, the banner and a press release are happening this week. I have already rewritten my artist statement and am including it now for you to have a first look at it:
“Often described as unworldly and godlike, I see the birds I create as kin to angels. In this body of work, rather than mimicking nature, my palette and meticulous approach give the paintings a medieval aura while their stature is reminiscent of ancient Egyptian sculpture. Provocative, observant, they are the archetypal embodiments of The Divine and exist in the borderland between mystery and fantasy in their innate if elusive narrative.”
(If you would like to receive an announcement card for the show, send your mailing address to mccarron.maureen@gmail.com so I can get it to you when they are ready.)
